Vitor Mafra is a screenwriter, director, and editor. He studied Engineering at USP and Communication at ESPM. He specialized in actor directing at EICTV – Cuba. He began his professional career at MTV. Throughout his career, Vitor has written and directed both fiction and documentary series for major industry players such as FOX/Warner, Discovery, Telecine, TNT, Canal Brasil, Gullane, Santa Rita, and Mixer. He started his career as an assistant director to Fernando Meirelles and later joined the directing team at O2 Filmes. There, he produced and directed his first short film: “ENTRE TUAS RODAS”, screened at national and international festivals. His first feature film, “LASCADOS”, was released on Netflix and starred Chay Suede and Paloma Bernardi. Among various television projects, he wrote and directed the acclaimed series “ZÉ DO CAIXÃO” (Canal Space/Turner) starring Matheus Nachtergaele. His documentary series “MILTON & O CLUBE DA ESQUINA” (Globoplay) won the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro in 2021 and was nominated for Best Documentary Series Screenplay by ABRA in the same year. In 2020, he was the editor responsible for the final cut of the film “VOCÊ TEM QUE OUVIR O CORAÇÃO E DIZER: PAROU” by Bárbara Paz, winner of the 75th Venice Film Festival. Vitor is also the screenwriter and editor of the series “PRIMAVERA NOS DENTES”, directed by Miguel de Almeida for Canal Brasil, produced by Santa Rita Filmes. Since 2023, he has been developing, in partnership with writer Renata Dias Gomes, the feature film “DIAS GOMES”, about the months leading up to the Palme d’Or win at Cannes by “O PAGADOR DE PROMESSAS”. He is the director of the feature “ENTRE NÓS” by José Carvalho, currently in development (scheduled for filming in the second half of 2025). He is also developing the documentary series “JOHNY E ALAÍDE” for Realejo Filmes.
