Rosa Caldeira is a trans filmmaker born in the favelas of São Paulo. She writes and directs award-winning films and series. A sociology graduate, she specialized in screenwriting for three years at the renowned Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV) in Cuba. Her feature film project “EKÊ” was selected for the Marché du Film in Cannes, the world’s largest film market, with support from Spcine. Her most recent short film, Perifericu, received over 35 awards and was screened at more than 200 festivals worldwide. Rosa is currently a screenwriter for original series in development with Globoplay and HBO. She is a member of the Brazilian Talents Paradiso Network and a founding member of APTA (@apta_brasil), the Brazilian Association of Trans Audiovisual Professionals. She is also represented in advertising by NUV&M and is co-founder of Maloka Filmes, a community-based audiovisual production company.
